Now I may be biased, but I think the best way to relax this New Year is a nice long soak in the tub (maybe with a relaxing bath bomb??). If you're a little strapped for time this New Year, here are a few quick ways to relax…
- Yoga Break!
- Take 10 minutes, find an open spot on the floor and do some stretching. Monitor your breathing, maybe play a little music, and stretch it alllll out.
- Anti- Anxiety Breathing
- I can calm myself down in about 10 breaths if I concentrate and do them just right. Any good anxiety therapist can tell you how to do these breaths; breath in five counts, hold seven counts, release eight counts. Repeat until you don't want to smack Jen for drinking the last of the coffee, jeeeeeze Jen, how could you?!
- Creative Visualization
- Picture this: You’re at home, just lounging around, and someone rings the doorbell…It’s Merry Maids, the pizza delivery man, Amazon with your new favorite book, and Mary Poppins. Your life just got a whole lot easier! Revel in it for a bit, then feeling renewed and refreshed, go to that meeting. I think Jen made more coffee.
- Take a second…
- Grab some time for yourself. If you don't have time for yourself, make some time. You can't help your boss, or your kids, or a client if you can't help yourself. Take 30 minutes to run a bath, play some music, poor a glass of vino, pop in a lavender bath bomb, and forget about all the stress and anxiety driving you nuts this 2016.
- Stop texting and actually phone a friend.
- When worst comes to worst, call a friend and ask if you can whine about your day or just commiserate about how this is The. Longest. Day. Ever. Sometimes just hearing a warm and welcoming voice is all you need to feel a whole lot better!
